Although it is actually very easy to choose between Web Hosting plans offered by Zone, and the users can also always change their plan, if needed, our customers occasionally have questions about the service.
We have compiled the most frequently asked questions in this article in hopes of assisting you in making a more informed decision.
Can I host more than one website within the scope of one web hosting plan?
Yes. Let’s say you have registered the domain scrapmetalstore.ee and linked it to a Zone web hosting plan, displaying some specific content on the web. Now you register a new domain weldingtips.ee, wanting to display completely different content, but you do not wish to purchase a new virtual server service plan. In such a situation, you can create a subdomain weldingtips.scrapmetalstore.ee on the scrapmetalstore.ee server and redirect the weldingtips.ee domain to this subdomain as a so-called alias. The address bar on the visitor’s browser will still show weldingtips.ee as the domain.
This solution allows you to create an infinite number of subdomains within the scope of one server service plan, all of them displaying different content on the web. The number of subdomains is unlimited for all three web hosting plans.
I would still like to point out one important thing regarding aliases. Namely, the more there are, the greater the security risk to the virtual server as a whole. By compromising one of the aliases, a malicious user could gain access to all resources on the customer’s virtual server. To avoid this, we recommend associating each individual domain with a separate web hosting plan for mitigating the risks.
How many e-mail accounts can I create and how big is one mailbox?
The size of your individual mailbox depends on your chosen plan. In the Starter package the maximum mailbox size is 8 Gib, in the Business package the maximum mailbox size is 12 GiB and in the Pro package 16 Gib. What all these plans have in common is that the total number of mailboxes is not limited. If your mailbox starts to fill up, we’ll send you a reminder in time, and then you’ll have the choice either to upgrade your existing web hosting plan to a more powerful one, or opting for a Premium or Ultimate mailbox for your individual e-mail. You have to pay a small extra charge for them, but these mailboxes have an individual disk capacity (50 GiB and 100 GiB respectively) not dependent on the web hosting plan.
Does Zone have fast servers? How much faster will my website be after migrating to your platform?
Over the years, we have paid a lot of attention to the speed of our server service, and have done our best to ensure that our customers could leave their competitors far behind with their websites and e-shops. However, it’s worth bearing in mind that despite the hardware and software that we have fine-tuned to provide the best service, the speed of any website depends to a large extent on how it is built and optimised by the customer.
The golden rule says that a good website loads in less than 1 second, has a home page of less than 1 megabyte and consists of less than 100 files. If this is the case, and your website isn’t slowed down by outdated scripts or dodgy plugins, your web will run like a dream on our web hosting service.
Can I also host an e-shop on Zone’s virtual servers?
Yes. All our plans offer the ability to host and run an e-shop. But don’t forget that all e-shops are very different from each other. If your market research and business forecasts tell you that your products are potentially going to cause a rush, it pays to be prepared and support your e-shop with the most powerful plan possible.
However, if you do not know how many people will come to your virtual shop, you can confidently pre-test it with our cheapest plan, but take into account that after a going live it is advisable to upgrade it to at least the next best plan to the cheapest. Again – you can also switch your plan at any time – both upgrade and downgrade it.
What payment options can I install?
Zone web hosting plans allow you to install all the most popular payment options. All plans support bank links and credit card solutions, and also PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay. We recommend you to consult some of the most well-known digital payment managing companies, such as Maksekeskus, EveryPay and Montonio, and find the best solution for your website.
Is HTTPS available and is the certificate free?
HTTPS connection and a free Let’s Encrypt certificate are included in the price of all our web hosting plans, and activation is automatic as soon as you open a virtual server plan with us.
To what extent and how is my data protected on Zone’s servers?
We take information security very seriously, both at the server and personal data level. We have aligned our information security policies with the ISO 27001:2014 standard.
The software running on our web hosting servers is updated on average once a month, ensuring the reliability of the servers and the up-to-datedness of the software to provide best protection for the customers’ resources.
As regards the protection of personal data, we comply with the Regulation 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council (General Data Protection Regulation or GDPR).
Will you also develop and create a website for me?

But what is the difference between a virtual server and a domain? (Yes, we are still being asked.)
The best way to explain the difference and the relationship between a domain and a server service or web hosting, is to use a simple analogy from our everyday lives: a domain name is like your phone number and a server service is like a phone. Your phone number allows a caller to reach you on your phone, your phone would be relatively useless without a number. The same is true for domains and servers. By just registering a domain, you’ll have it simply as a record in our system, but if you want to start using it, i.e. to display your website and send and receive e-mail, the domain must be linked to a server service.
Which plan should I choose then?
